Should I Buy LCD or Plasma TV
There are a lot of options out there when it comes to home entertainment but the first thing to note is that the main visual device should deliver the best moving images to be able to present a cinema like atmosphere in the house. For this device, most consumers face dilemma: should they buy LCD or Plasma for my home theater design? The final answer and decision are relative for each consumer but from the point of view of the product it can be said that LCD will be the best if your viewing set is less than but Plasma will be much better if it is going to be larger than 50 inch.
The first thing to consider is that Plasma employs tiny gas plasma cells. These cells are then being charged by some amount of electrical voltages and hence create the picture consumers see on the screen. Meanwhile, LCD employs liquid crystal that is pressed between two glass plates. The pictures produced by the latest Plasma and LCD have already matched the quality of the traditional CRT TV. From the eyes of consumers, they would love the convenient way when they want to move or re-position the Plasma or LCD. These TVs are lighter and thinner that the older TV sets. But when it comes to home theater systems, Plasma will perform better than LCD. This is because Plasma is able to display black better than LCD. And since black is the color that composes most of the moving pictures, then Plasma is better. Another competitive edge of Plasma is that it has bigger viewing angle so that consumers may watch the TV from more angles and still have solid pictures. Meanwhile, LCD had been known to have limited viewing angle. But with the improvement in its technology, LCD is able to match the viewing angle of Plasma although this are limited to some pricey products.
For the best home theater experience, Plasma until now is the preferable choice than LCD, especially if you regard the quality of the pictures. Plasma is able to produce brighter color while LCD is widely criticized for its low color saturation. In fact, most LCD TVs of today tend to display burning in images on the screen. This is a phenomenon where images from previous scene are left in the screen and can be seen in the current screen. For movies and games, LCDs score negative.
