The panel of an LED TV is made of liquid crystal and hence it is actually an LCD TV, but with a modification. It is said to be a modification because the source of the light is not come from behind the panel but from the edge of the panel. The light then spread through the surface of the screen. Hence LED TV is claimed to be able to yield the best performance in theater setting as well as normal setting because the moving images can be made sharper.
Hence some big names in television industry claim that LED TV should be the future of viewing movies in homes. If you add to this device the correct homeaudio, you will have a real cinema in your house, they said. With the introduction of 3D technology by Samsung, such claim may go further although the 3D glass is still an obstacle for comfort viewing.
